Missing you all and we'll be back in touch after the holidays. (Thanks Ms Russell for the video!) Oops - accidentally omitted Ms Caesar from the video. So I asked her to say a few words for all her First Years For the next two weeks Athy College is on holidays. Even at a time like this it is important that we try to keep things as normal as possible and a break from classes is needed for students, teachers and parents. I would still encourage those who will be taking state exams to use this time for their own revision.
Can I express my absolute thanks to all three groups: teachers, parents and students. All three groups have adapted to a new method of delivery in education and have developed mutual respect for each other. The journey is not over and we will re engage after the Easter holidays and play our part in this emergency. Thanks also to our School Completion, Home School and Guidance departments who are arranging food, support and guidance to our families. Even at this difficult time I hope you all have a very Happy Easter. From next week Athy College will be sending Food Club packs to ALL of our students who normally participate in our school lunch service. With the help of our partners An Post packs of non perishables will be delivered to hundreds of homes on a fortnightly basis. Our plan is to deliver to nearly all of our student population to ensure that the most needy are included and whose circumstances may have changed recently. We hope to continue this throughout the Covid 19 crisis. If you are a parent/guardian and do not wish to receive this pack or do not wish to share your contact details with our supplier please reply “opt out” with students name to 087 1818347 Enjoy and thank you to An Post for their generosity in delivering these packs. Thanks also to Linda (SCP) and CLaire O'C (HSCL) for organising this project Third Years

www.athycollege.ie/guidance My thanks to both parents and teachers for working together over the past 10 days. We are aware that some students can be overwhelmed by the amount of work and typing and are trying to arrive at a happy medium. I am amazed at how well our online system is working and particular thanks to teachers for their ingenuity and commitment in delivering education in these difficult times.
The Guidance section of our website has been updated particularly to give advice to both parents and students as our confinement poses serious challenges to our wellbeing. My thanks to Guidance Counsellor Joanne Parry for this invaluable information for all.
