Athy Abu The proposed extension to Athy College has taken a massive step forward as the Department of Education and Skills this week issued a Schedule of Accommodation for the new build. The process has now begun which should see the multi million investment progressing to design and build over the next couple of years. This project will see an investment of in excess of 10 million euro in Athy.
“ The new Schedule of Accommodation will bring the capacity of Athy College from 450 to 1000 students and will include a much larger sports hall, additional 4 Science labs, 20 additional classrooms, a music suite, a custom built special needs accommodation and much more. We are delighted that the Department has responded so promptly to our extraordinary growth. Athy college opened its doors on the new campus in 2010 and has trebled student numbers in the eight year period and is installing 3 temporary classrooms this September to meet demand in the interim” said principal Richard Daly Enrolment details for 19/20 and 20/21 available on www.athycollege.ie Castlemitchell Under 13 boys won a Leinster Final at the weekend defeating Ballycumber from Offaly. Athy College assessment test for students entering next September takes place this Saturday from 9am until 1pm
This Friday the 23rd of March is Daffodil Day.
Daffodil day is being run by students from Uladh and Cashel at Athy College. A bake sale will be held in G13 at the 11am break. Students will be selling Daffodil Day pins class 4 and 5 in class rooms. Congratulations to the Athy College team who today were in the final six in the national championship. We are so proud of the work and commitment of this team under Ms Denmead. Well done.
Bon Voyage to the Athy College students who are visiting Paris on their school tour. After a departure from Athy College in the small hours of the morning they are now enjoying the sights of the beautiful city. Thanks to Ms C. Doyle for arranging it.
