Athy College is closed for the next week on midterm break. How short a school year when we see that there are 12 school weeks before the Leaving Cert and Junior Cycle exams.

Congratulations to Athy College student Josh McDonald, first year, Glendalough who who gold in the 60mtrs sprint, U15 Boys Leinster Indoor Championship in Athlone at the weekend. Well done Josh.
A full days training for teachers took place last week for teachers at Athy College for the new Junior Cycle which this summer replaces the former Junior Cert. Athy College is host to English teachers from schools in the south of the county with teachers for other subjects travelling to other centres for their training. The new Junior Cycle will offer marks in the final exam for school based assessment which ha taken place over the year and will offer changes to the curriculum.
With continual annual growth in student numbers at Athy College the new extension to accommodate 1000 becomes more urgent. Over the past 7 years student numbers have almost trebled with the creation of almost 20 staff jobs. This year should see our planning and design completed for our new build. Another success story for Athy!
Music is alive and well at Athy College as students test out some of our new equipment. Well done to Mr O'Donnell for filling the college with the sound of music
Thank you to all of the students who attended the assessment test for Sept 2017. As we move to the digital age with the introduction of coding and IT, we also moved to online assessment.
