Athy College are delighted that due to unprecedented growth in student numbers we have today been granted a significant extension to the school building to be constructed in 2018. With numbers currently exceeding the capacity of the building and growing annually we had made application for additional accommodation last year. After five years on the campus site it is almost unbelievable that such a student growth has taken place and a matching staff growth. This new extension will cater for the needs of a new generation of students, create employment during its construction and design, create long term sustainable employment for teachers and help to build a huge educational resource which will aid the economic recovery of the town. Our thanks to all who have assisted in getting this project over the line.
Best of luck to our Senior Boys' Basketball team in their Regional quarter final today against Ballymahon, Longford. Tip off 1pm. Thanks to all of the parents who helped get them there today
Great to see schools coming together for a Volleyball Blitz. St Grennan's and Portlaoise College were among the visitors for our blitz today. Great sport!

Athy College is delighted to announce that it will be a venue for the Darkness into Light 5K Walk/Run next May in aid of Pieta House. Hundreds of people have left the town annually to participate in this moving response to Mental Health issues and now we have our own venue. Already schools and clubs have expressed an interest in making this event a vehicle around which Athy can unite and show the power of numbers and the unity of a community. We will shortly have a Facebook page but in the meantime schools, clubs or individuals wanting to get involved can contact [email protected]
Students from Athy College met with author Celine Kiernan to discuss her novel "Into the Grey". Our students had many questions for the author following their reading of the novel. Thanks Mrs Sunderland.
