The guest speaker was President Michael D. Higgins and guests included our national Song contest winner. Our college has a long association with the Irish Flag and its symbolism and are proud to receive it . Representing the school were Chloe Murray, Sinead Niblett and Karl Doogue
Well done to the Athy College contingent who braved mud and muck in the Runamuck event last weekend. A few students, a few staff and a lot of FUN.
Today Athy College celebrates five years on campus. In that time we have doubled student numbers, have created in excess of 25 new jobs, and have achieved the highs of academic success even to winning a JP McManus award for Leaving Cert success. We have extended the facility available to the community with astro pitch, floodlights, gym, outdoor gym and much more. Artistically, we have commissioned a beautiful public sculpture and have become a major venue for community and sporting events. To staff, parents, students, Board of management, ETB, thank you for your support and you can feel justifiably proud of you school.
Our thanks to Lt. Sinéad Hunt from the Permanent Defence Force who gave most interesting presentation to two groups today on careers in the army.
Many thanks to all our friends at Athy International Concentrates as we finish another year of our School Business partnership which saw us visiting their premisses and they visiting us. Today the students made their presentations and finished the programme for another year. Thanks to all
